Greetings and Salutations,

Whenever I paint florals I can’t help but think of Georgia O’Keeffe and her beautiful floral paintings. She is one of my early artistic influences and I dearly love her work.

The bluebell in this painting is called Clematis hirsutissima Bergen Park. It grows in my backyard and a little delicate bluebell hangs from it’s stem. The bloom itself is about 1/5 the size represented in my painting. The entire size of the plant is only about 15” height. I loved the range of color in blossom, the shape of the blossom, and it’s texture.

Have a beautiful day,
Karen
