Greetings and salutations,

My theme for May and Mother's Day is to feature paintings from the Family-isms series that feature portraits of women in my family and/or photographs taken by my mother.

This is another double portrait of my brothers based on a photograph taken by my mother. This photo was taken to document the occasion of my brother Lyle, in the black shirt, purchasing a used car. Our brother Jeff is posing with him dressed in white.

The placement of their hands is interesting since both are, in different ways, hiding their hands from the viewer. My brothers’ choice of attire is also very different from one figure to the next.

Another curious aspect from the original photograph is the other car parked clearly on the lawn. So unusual that I wanted to keep it in the painting.

Take care and have a beautiful day,
Karen
