This is one of my favorite portraits. The original photograph was a colorized black and white photograph. It was a souvenir photo from a trip that my Great Uncle Henry took to Ft. Worth.

My theme for May and Mother's Day is to feature paintings from the Family-isms series that feature portraits of women in my family and/or photographs taken by my mother. This is another double portrait of my brothers based on a photograph taken by my mother.

I wanted to continue with the Mother's Day theme for May with paintings in the Family-isms series featuring women in my family and/or photographs taken by my mother. The Deer is a double portrait based on a black and white photograph taken by my mother.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers and mothers to be. My niece, Theresa whose portrait is the focus of the painting, was the first grandbaby in the family. She's now a mother with her own family.

With Mother’s Day approaching, I thought I might change gears a little and write about the work in my “Family-isms” series. This portrait was the first painting I did in this series. It is based on a black and white photograph.
